Jamie's Nsr250

Big thanks to Jamie(AU), for letting me share the below pics of his bike in action...

Hey nick here is a couple of shots of the nsr at eastern creek . It was my first time on the track in 20 years . I had a blast. The bike went amazingly. It wentl well past the 190 on the clock and i figure it got to around 220kph on the straight .

Thanks for the fantastic job on my pgm unit.
Jamie

  2. Sadly the engine exploded at the next meeting! A new dry clutch engine from an se/sp has been found and is in the process of being rebuilt and fitted. the previous owner installed the piston backwards and the rings have scored up and down the exhaust ports on the rear barrel and both are cracked across the same port right at the top. Both barrels are being sent off today to be replated and i have a box of stuff coming from tyga for the rebuild . I think i will then put a 300cc kit onto the original engine and fit that at some point. Jamie

  4. So i did the top end new pistons ,barrels re coated ,powervales all cleaned up etc put the engine back in fired her up and she started 3 kick! I thought this is good . Just running through the first heat cycle so it sitting up on the stand when all of a sudden a big leak of gearbox oil from behind the dry clutch..AAAAAArrrrrggghhh i thought!

Yesterday i looked on nsr world and found what seal was the culprit. Built myself a clutch removing tool with some spare metal plates from my rs 125.Got it all out last night and just waiting on the seal to show up today and ill be putting it back together again . The rattle of the dry clutch is so cool .

  5. It might be a good idea to also check the spacer and two needle bearings that sits behind the clutch basket as well.
Excess play in there will make the primary drive gear vibrate a lot and oil leak will eventually occur.

  6. Spacer is item 17 and bearings are item 25 in the part list book...

  7. It lives!!! Put the seal in last night which was quite easy to do,put the dry clutch back together and took it for a small ride . NO LEAK!!! I am so very happy with the bike now, still running it in though so no full throttle yet. I have a decent ride planned for the weekend so lets hope my first solo rebuild is a total success.Next project is to fix the oil leak on the rgv vj 21 then do the top end on the honda rs 125 nf4 .
Thanks for all the help nick.

  8. Have a nice ride Jamie and let me know how the nf4 goes.
Mine has the stock conrod for 14mm piston pins and it's major pita to source pistons and little end bearings.

  9. Hey nick . The bike went great ! I have been terrorising the streets of bondi beach where i live on it all week. Very rare to see a 2 stroke 250 on the streets in australia these days . Hey with the nf4 you need to contact trevor lusby. He is the guy i put you in touch with about the plastic carb guard. I know for a fact he has hundreds of pistons and all the bearings pins etc.I know he sells a bunch on e bay and is happy to ship all over the world . I will send you an e mail address you can contact him on. Now where do i find a clutch and gaskets for the rgv ......
