YPVS Controller Repair - Service

It's been a while since I last posted anything related to YPVS boxes. So here are a couple photos of YPVS controllers, a Rz500 YPVS unit for Spencer(UK) and a Tzr250 2MA unit for Steve(UK). Both controllers were repaired and then modified.

  1. I have an 84 DT200, would you be able to tell me how I can diagnose the YPVS controller. I have replaced it once with a used unit as the original would cause the servo to continually cycle.

  2. I'm not sure what you're asking but the issue you describe seems to be one of the common faults for malfunctioning YPVS controllers.

  3. What I mean is how can I determine what is causing the YPVS controller to not work correctly and what I can do to repair it. I also read you mention being able to modify the controller, what does that accomplish? Does it change the amount the valve is open at a specific rpm?

  4. Sorry Anonymous but I cannot help a lot on YPVS repairs, I have to keep some things to myself. Regarding the modification, it alters the whole exhaust valve curve e.g starting - opening rpms, duration & movement. There are lots of stuff for this modification in my blog.

  5. Completely understandable, as an aside could you tell my why there is a second cone inside the expansion chamber on the DT200, the cone in my exhaust had come loose (rusted off) and I opted to weld it to the end of the expansion chamber inside with the cone facing the exhaust port.
